On Friday, Quetta-based fine arts student Mahira Lehri Baloch showcased her thesis exhibition in Quetta. The exhibition focused on the struggles and societal challenges faced by women in Balochistan. Through her artwork, she highlighted issues such as poverty, deprivation, and the systemic mistreatment of women.

Mahira’s paintings served as a vivid representation of women’s struggles in the region, aiming to bring attention to their fundamental and human rights. Speaking to the media during the event, she said, “My art is a medium to shed light on women’s rights. I aim to tell their stories and struggles through my paintings.” Her work emphasized the importance of women’s rights, education, and empowerment in the region.

Highlighting the significance of education, Mahira stressed that the educational deprivation of women in Balochistan is a pressing issue. “If women are educated, they can become economically and politically empowered,” she said. “Educated women can not only bring positive changes in their own lives but also play a vital role in societal development.”

Mahira’s exhibition featured pieces that addressed the multifaceted challenges women face in domestic, social, and economic spheres. She explained, “My art is about raising awareness among women about their rights. Women should not remain confined within four walls but step forward to make a difference in their lives and their communities.”

Her work, rooted in the desire to inspire women to understand their worth and advocate for their rights, underscored the urgent need to improve women’s lives in Balochistan, particularly in areas of education, autonomy, and active societal participation.

Attendees at the exhibition, especially women, praised Mahira’s efforts and described her artwork as a significant step toward addressing the issues faced by women. They recognized her work as an effective attempt to bring Balochistan’s women’s struggles to national and international attention.
